On a dare, Jorge (Imanol Landeta) sneaks into an old house only to find that it’s the home of a reclusive elderly woman named Hope (Jurado). Together they strike up an unlikely friendship and in repeated visits she teaches him about the value of life, the importance of friendship, and to fight for one’s ideals. Katy Jurado was the first Latin American woman to be nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in Edward Dmytryk’s Broken Lance (1954). She was awarded a Golden Globe for High Noon and a special lifetime achievement award. In her lengthy career she appeared alongside such screen legends as Gary Cooper, Spencer Tracy, Elvis Presley, Burt Lancaster, and Marlon Brando and worked with acclaimed directors Budd Boetticher, Luis Bunuel, and Sam Peckinpah. A BEAUTIFUL SECRET CAST BIOGRAPHIES Katy Jurado: Esperanza Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Katy Jurado first became known in the Mexican Film community in the early 1940’s. She acted in more than forty Mexican Films, making a name for herself in various comedies and dramatic films including Nosotros los Pobres and Esquina Bajan starring the legendary actors Pedro Infante and David Silva, respectively. Her Hollywood career began with her participation in the film Bullfighter and the Lady, directed by Budd Boetticher and consequently starred in more than 10 Hollywood films including co-starring with Gary Cooper, Elvis Presley, Marlon Brando and Burt Lancaster. The actress received multiple awards for her talent as an actress including an Academy Award nomination for her role in Broken Lance, directed by Edward Dmytryck; a Golden Globe Nomination for High Noon; three Ariel Awards (Mexico’s highest honour for Actors) for films such as El Bruto, Caridad and El Evangelio de las Maravillas as well as one Ariel for Lifetime Achievement. After many years of voluntary retirement, Katy was approached to work in Television for the first time and she starred in various blockbuster TV series including Mas Alla del Puente and Te Sigo Amando with the latter garnering her critical acclaim and multiple awards. Katy Jurado, the first Mexican actress to make a major impact in Hollywood, provides the viewing public with an unforgettable last gift with her final role as an actress in her last film, A Beautiful Secret. Imanol Landeta: Jorge, 12 years old Son of Mexican singer and actor Manuel Landete, Imanol was introducedto the theater at the early age of 2 in the musical Que Planton. Later Imanol showed much interest in his father’s work and decided to try it. At the age of 9, he got his first role in the film La Última llamada, receiving the Heraldo Award for debuting actor. In 1996 he was cast for the musical Marcelino Pan y Vino. He also received several awards for this performance. Later came the "novelas" (Mexican Soaps) Los Hijos de nadie, Vivo por Elena and finally starring in El Nino que vino del mar. He has recorded three albums named "Pedacitos de Amor", "Creciendo Juntos" and "Si Tú Supieras" for Fonovisa. Her beauty and quality as an actress made Ana one of the best young talents in her country. She began her career with many TV series, but she is focusing her work in movies. De la Reguera has some other talents, for example she is an excellent professional dancer. Her work in movies includes:Por la libre, A Beautiful Secret and Ladies Night. She will play the role of a beautiful nun Sister Encarnación in Nacho Libre, the upcoming film by Jared Hess, director of Napoleon Dynamite. Jaime Aymerich: 29 years old Jaime Aymerich was born in Mexico City. At a young age he studied and got an award from the Center of Dramatic Arts of Mexico, forming his career in the theatrical stage. He starred in different theater plays such as: The Writer, I Want to Live, The End and others. Japanese Producers were interested in working with him, resulting in the short for Japan Not Close Not Far. He continued his career but now in Television, getting a leading role in The Educational Teacher and a recurring role for the production in English of the Soap opera Acapulco Bay- a production of the union Televisa-Fox reaching the public throughout the world. Aymerich continues his career in the Theater sketch of comedy in Mexico having recognitions at The House of the Comedians and sharing the stage in Hollywood with actor Martin Short in his program Prime Time Glick. Aymerich is now a part of the cast of the show Fat Actress starring and produced by Kirstie Alley. It premiered in March 2005 for Showtime where he does the comical role "Little Jorge". He is also in pre-production of his new American movie Sixth Element with director Richard Elfman, where he portrays the character of a Latin detective who saves the world. A BEAUTIFUL SECRET CREW BIOGRAPHIES Leopoldo Laborde: Writer/Director Leopoldo Laborde (born in November 6th, 1970) is director, screenwriter, photographer, editor and self-made producer. He entered the movie- business in 1984 as a production assistant in Mexico City. In the years between 1988-1995 he shoots four feature films on home-video and develops his skills as a story-teller as well as his visual aesthetics. He shoots his first feature film in 35mm., Angeluz, a horror film which later became a cult movie. Immediately afterwards, he writes and shoots Sin Destino and A Beautiful Secret. Main actors are, respectively, Roberto Cobo and Katy Jurado, being these two films the last acting performances they gave. Sin Destino is known as “a key piece in raw realism.” During 2005 he shoots Enemy, this time with debutant performers.
